This guide is designed to show you how to manually update your Apple HomePod and HomePod Mini, something that can be done whenever Apple releases a new update.

Apple’s HomePod is designed to update automatically if you have this feature turned on, although it may take some time after a software update is released. If you want to update your device faster then you can do manual update on the device.

How do you manually update HomePod?

Make sure your iPhone or iPad is updated to the latest versions of Apple’s iOS or iPadOS. The latest versions at the time of writing this guide are iOS 16.3 and iPadOS 16.3.

It works on both HomePod and HomePod Mini, you will need to turn it on Home app on your iPhone or iPad.

Now go to the top right corner and select more button, it’s a circle with three dots in the middle.

Select now Home settings From the menu and you will be taken to the main settings menu of your device’s Home app.

Scroll down until you see Software Update and select it Software updateYour Home app will now check if any updates are available for your device.

If there is an update available, select it Install, and the latest software update will be installed on your HomePod and HomePod Mini. If you have multiple devices it will install on all of them.

When your HomePod is being updated it will show a white spinning light on the top of the device, this will disappear when the update is complete.

How do you check which HomePod software you’re running?

If you want to check which version of Apple’s HomePod software is running on your HomePod or HomePod Mini, this can be done from the house application on your device.

open up Home app on your iPhone or iPad and then select the HomePod you want to check the software version of.

Click and select that HomePod Settings icon Below, it now looks like a gear or cog Move down Below and you’ll see what version of HomePod software your device has.
